Meet the beautiful mom and superb cakemaker – Michelle Alforque. After losing her 6 month old firstborn, she saw Yoga in Davao’s posts in her Facebook newsfeed and decided to give yoga a try to help her cope with her loss.
Meeting young and modern Indians in Canada taught me a whole new different perspective on yoga. This practice afterall originated in ancient India and it’s really interesting to talk “yoga” to them and at the same time listen to their opinions and yoga life stories. One of the people I met is Reena and she is from the beautiful northern Indian state of Rajasthan. I have come to learn from her that in their city, Yoga is being taught to children at an early age either at home or in school. It is part of their curriculum and culture – a normal everyday kind of activity for them.
Meet our featured yoga teacher of the week – Kristine Mae “KQ” Quiray. She has been practicing yoga for 9 years now. She currently teaches Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga classes in San Juan, Quezon City, and UP Diliman. She’ll have a two day yoga classes at Ekam Yoga (located at Marfori Heights, Davao) on August 13 and 14. Here’s our short interview with her:
Every now and then, we feature yogis and yoga instructors all over the world. Meet our featured yoga instructor for the week – Eddie Hall. He’s ranked 2nd in the USA National Asana Yoga Championships and ranked 5th in the World Asana Yoga Championships this year. He’s the Fitness Director at the Baltimore Fitness and Tennis. Aside from yoga, he also teaches spin and fitness classes. He loves the beach and he owns a 126 year old farmhouse!
